About Me

In a Nutshell

I was born in Karachi , Pakistan and when I was 9 months old, I moved to Dubai and then later to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Its here that I did my schooling all the way to O’Levels.

I remember expressing my interest to my parents in going to an Art School right after O’ Levels, but they replied saying that I would end up painting billboards and posters for cinemas and therefore should look into a constructive career choice. While the entire world was trembling down to wrath of Information Technology, I thought of pursuing Business Management and Advertising.

After my bachelors, I could not find a job that would pay enough so I started doing odd jobs, just to keep myself busy and in quest that I may land up a good job somewhere.

It was during this time, that  I discovered Photoshop, because I fell in love with the art of Dave McKean and Alessandro Bavari. The dark approach to art and concepts opened new horizons for expression.

In 1999 December, I got my first break. A friend of mine told me that Junoon the biggest Rock band to come out of Pakistan has announced an album cover contest on their website and I should put in my entry. To my expectation, I won the competition from over 255 entries and landed the contract for the album cover of Junoon’s Parvaaz and its brochure.

Later in 2000, I was approached by Strings, another Pop Rock setup that was coming back after 10 years; to do their website. Strings took me to heights that I never could imagine.

In 2001, I joined Pyramid Productions. The production division for Interflow Communication (Ogilvy & Mather) in Pakistan. Here working with Rohail Hyatt, was an eye opener and my first big project was with them was Pepsi Battle of the Bands. In my 5 years working for Pyramid Productions and Interflow; i worked on all sort of projects for clients like LUX, Nestle, Ponds, Toyota, Daihatsu, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7up, Wills Cigarettes, Walls ice cream, TVOne to name a few.

I was then offered a job at MTV Pakistan as Head of Graphics and Promotion. Working with MTV was a dream come true. I not only designed all there initial communication, but also contributed to production ideas and concept that had lucrative value for possible advertisements.

After one year, I was offered a position at Recorder Television Network as Creative Manager for their channel AAJ TV and PLAY TV. While AAJ TV was the leading NEWS and current affairs channel, Play TV was a 100% youth and music channel. I was later promoted to Creative Director and then Group Controller Creative, where I was also catering to queries for Business Recorder Daily – A leading financial publication by the same group.

I have successfully executed media projects in almost all the categories there is. From Web to Print to Video.

I am still learning and shall always be forever. Its just the way I like…
